Auto Glass Repair and Replacement
Auto glass replacement and repair has seen many changes over the years. One
example is the adhesive used in replacing a windshield. Thirty years ago butyl
tape was the product of choice used for most installations. After years of
research, we now know that this product is no longer safe enough to properly
secure a vehicle's windshield. A windshield, by law, must be installed with
urethane and as we state in our Safety section, we

Always know that you are free to select any glass shop you want to repair or
replace your windshield, regardless of what your insurance company tells you.
Many glass companies that your insurance company may recommend might not be
able to give you the best price or help you with your deductible. Make sure
to check with a few different companies before making a decision.

Windshield Replacement
If a windshield chip is just too big or has already spread into a crack, this
probably means you need to replace the entire windshield. Many auto
dealerships require you to replace a windshield on a lease turn in vehicle even
if it has a tiny chip.
Often times, your comprehensive insurance deductible is lower than your
collision deductible. If you are calling your agent and inquiring about your
deductible, make sure you explain to them that it is for a windshield
replacement which falls under a comprehensive claim. Simbol Auto Glass can

and the deductible amount.
