Terms of Service & Workmanship Warranty – Simbol Auto Glass
Effective Date: January 1, 2026
Last Updated: October 24, 2026
By requesting a quote, scheduling an in-shop or mobile appointment, or authorizing work at any Simbol Auto Glass facility in Hazel Park, Waterford Township, Shelby Township, or Wyandotte, MI, you agree to the following service terms, safety guidelines, and warranty conditions.
1. Online Quotes, VIN Verification & Special-Order Glass
-
Estimates Based on Provided Information: Online and phone quotes are based on the vehicle year, make, model, and 17-digit VIN provided by the customer. If physical inspection of the vehicle reveals different factory options (such as acoustic glass, HUD, rain/light sensors, heated wiper grids, or ADAS camera brackets) or pre-existing body/molding damage, pricing will be updated and approved by you prior to installation.
-
Special-Order & RV/Commercial Glass: Custom-cut laminated glass, specialty Class A/B/C RV motorhome windshields, and non-stock commercial fleet glass may require a non-refundable deposit prior to ordering.
2. Safe Drive-Away Time (SDAT) & Post-Installation Care
-
Adhesive Curing Safety: Laminated windshields are a critical structural safety component of your vehicle’s airbag and rollover protection system. Customers must strictly observe the Safe Drive-Away Time (SDAT) communicated by our technician (typically 60 minutes using high-modulus rapid-cure urethane) before operating the vehicle.
-
First 48 Hours After Installation: To prevent air or water leaks while urethane cures completely, customers must avoid high-pressure car washes for at least 48 hours, leave retention tape in place for 24 hours, and crack a side window slightly (1/2 inch) on hot days to prevent interior cabin pressure buildup.
3. Windshield Rock Chip Repair Disclaimer
-
Structural & Cosmetic Expectations: Optical resin rock chip repair is designed to halt the spread of small stone impacts and restore structural integrity. While claritytypically improves by 70% to 90%, a faint cosmetic blemish or scar at the impact point is normal.
-
Risk of Crack Propagation: Because damaged glass is under internal tension, there is a small inherent risk that an existing chip or short crack may spread during the vacuum/pressure injection process. Simbol Auto Glass is not liable if a pre-existing chip expands into a crack requiring windshield replacement; however, if we performed the paid chip repair, we will credit the cost of that repair toward a replacement windshield at our shop.
4. Pre-Existing Rust, Pinchweld Corrosion & Broken Glass Cleanup
-
Pinchweld Rust & Frame Corrosion: If removing your old windshield reveals severe rust, rot, or structural corrosion along the vehicle’s metal pinchweld that prevents safe urethane adhesion, we will notify you immediately. Simbol Auto Glass reserves the right to decline re-glazing an unsafe, rusted frame until body shop metal repairs are completed.
-
Tempered Door & Back Glass Cleanup: When replacing shattered tempered side door windows or rear back glass, our technicians vacuum accessible broken glass from inside the door cavity and seating areas. However, micro-fragments can lodge deep inside HVAC vents, seat tracks, or door seams; we cannot guarantee 100% removal of microscopic glass splinters.
5. ADAS Forward-Facing Camera Recalibration Notice
Many modern vehicles equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)—such as Lane Keep Assist, Pre-Collision Braking, and Adaptive Cruise Control—mount cameras directly to the windshield. Vehicle manufacturers require ADAS camera recalibration following a windshield replacement. Customers are responsible for ensuring any required static or dynamic ADAS calibration is completed and for verifying that all dashboard warning lights are clear before relying on automated driving features.
6. Car Window Tinting Terms & Michigan Law (MCL 257.709)
-
Exclusive Service Locations: Professional car window tinting is performed exclusively at our Shelby Township (50919 Design Lane) and Wyandotte (2743 Fort St) locations (Hazel Park and Waterford are Auto Glass Only facilities).
-
Curing & Window Roll-Down Rule: Do not roll down newly tinted windows for 3 to 5 days after installation. A slight hazy appearance or tiny water pockets ("micro-bubbles") are normal during the evaporation curing phase and will disappear within 1 to 3 weeks depending on outside temperature.
-
Michigan Tint Law Compliance: Under Michigan Compiled Laws (MCL 257.709), any darkness is permitted on rear side windows and the rear back glass (with dual side mirrors), while front driver and passenger windows are restricted to non-reflective tint along the top 4 inches unless the driver possesses a valid Michigan medical/optometrist exemption. If a customer requests off-road/show-car film shades darker than Michigan statutory limits on front doors without a medical exemption, the customer assumes full legal responsibility for any traffic citations.
7. Workmanship Warranty
Simbol Auto Glass stands behind our installations with a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty against air leaks, water leaks, and manufacturer glass defects for as long as you own the vehicle. This warranty does not cover new road hazard impacts (stone chips, cracks, vandalism, or collision damage) or leaks caused by pre-existing vehicle body rust. All warranty inspections and repairs must be performed at one of our four Simbol Auto Glass locations with your original receipt or invoice.
